Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues – primarily your skin, joints, and blood vessel walls. – Mayo Clinic
Do I have EDS?
If you have signs and symptoms of EDS, your doctor may be able to diagnose you, but they will most likely refer you to a geneticist, as EDS is a genetic disorder.
There are many different types of EDS with different diagnostic criteria. The types most often discussed are Hypermobile, Classical, and Vascular. The Ehlers-Danlos Society provides excellent descriptions of each type.
Clinical manifestations of EDS are most often found in the joints and skin, with joint hyper-mobility (over-flexibility) being perhaps the most universal.
